OWC Secured Coverage in Newsweek for Abogada Julia

Jaime, a Honduras native and undocumented immigrant, came to the United States alone almost 10 years ago to make a better life for himself in Florida. But he was forced to flee his home and start over after the sweeping anti-immigration bill signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis went into effect on July 1.

“I had to change jobs and move out of the state,” Jaime, who declined to provide his last name to protect his identity, told Newsweek through his attorney. He’s now living and working as a cook in North Carolina.

“The worst part is living separated from my family… financially, it is more difficult being away from them, but I don’t have any choice. I can’t risk being there and getting myself deported.”

Undocumented immigrants who remain in Florida are at greater risk of being exploited by their employers because of the new law, said Giulia Fantacci, a Florida-based attorney who works to help victims of human trafficking legalize their status.

In labor exploitation cases, employers “know that the worker is undocumented and so they will take advantage of their immigration status to then force them… to do certain types of work or additional work that’s not part of what they’re supposed to do,” Fantacci told Newsweek.

OWC secured coverage for Zivian Health in Cleveland Inno

Digital health startup Zivian Health Inc. has raised $3 million to expand its software platform that aims to connect physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants for collaboration.

The seed funding round was led by Wireframe Ventures, Crosslink Capital and NextView Ventures, the Cleveland-based company said Tuesday.

Zivian Health tracks credentialing and licensing rules for nurse practitioners and physician assistants in all 50 states so they and their physician collaborators can concentrate on caring for patients, said Dr. Rafid Fadul, co-founder and CEO of the company.

Fadul partnered with Jesse Corn to start Zivian Health last year. Corn was head of AudioEngine at Findaway, the Cleveland-based digital audiobook distributor, before Findaway was acquired by Spotify for $119 million in 2022.

“[It’s] an organized, clean interface where everything lives,” Fadul said. “It gives me a lot of peace of mind knowing that I’m working with people who are equally as committed to quality and motivated by the same things.”

OWC Secure Coverage in the Los Angeles Business Journal for aShareX

Aiming to make ownership of museum-quality fine art more widely accessible, bidding platform aShareX Inc. will hold its first auction on Aug. 30 in partnership with Bonhams. The Westwood-based company, which stands for Art Share Exchange, said its focus on fractional ownership lets bidders diversify their portfolios and invest in valuable artwork even if they don’t have the money to purchase it as the sole buyer.

Alan Snyder, aShareX’s founder and chief executive, said fine art is a wise asset for portfolios, but that most people don’t have the financial means to invest in it. Snyder is also the founder and managing partner of Westwood-based investment firm Shinnecock Partners LP, which offers a loan-portfolio option specifically focus on art lending. By offering the opportunity to buy into fractionalized ownership, aShareX wants to “democratize” access to art.

“They’re not (fiscally) available to the public, and I think that’s a tragedy,” Snyder said. “By fractionalized ownership we can make them available … we know that (art) is a great store of value, over time has a tendency to appreciate and is fabulous diversification.”

OWC Celebrates 15 Years – Est. 08/08/08 | eNews from OWC

At 15 years of leading OWC, I know the best indicator of a company’s future success is its people. Hiring the right individuals for the job is step one. Getting everyone to work together aligned to the mission to deliver high quality work and meet revenue goals is all the rest. OWC established a set of core values, a company constitution, if you will, to ensure success for clients and ourselves as a company and as individuals. We’ve all agreed to work by them, and they’re not just words. Employee reviews are based on how their work reflects core values. We share our values with our clients, and they are often cited in the hue and cry of decision-making in our own conference room.

We celebrate this anniversary with a review by the long-time team members who deliver public relations, reputation management and crisis communications:

Radical Candor and Transparency – “Coming from big box PR agencies, my favorite core value is radical candor, which is the opposite of those firms. We are committed to honest feedback, transparent billing and upfront insights. We often joke that we are not the ‘nice guy PR agency’ because we always will tell you the truth – good and bad.” — Wes Robinson, 5 years with OWC

Embrace Failure – “Embracing failure spoke to me when I first joined OWC. I used to fear it – especially when I was new to agency life. OWC helped me understand we learn from failure, then quickly reset. Openly addressing roadblocks leads to innovative ways to overcome and propel forward. Now, I understand that failure isn’t a problem. It’s a stepping stone to success.” — Samantha Short, 4 years with OWC

Entrepreneurial Thinking – “Our team is driven to continuously innovate. We conduct no-holds-barred brainstorms, which often get pretty loud. Fear is an entrepreneur’s friend. It makes for questions that distill thinking and lead to improvements simple and radical.” — Tracy Williams, founder

Nimble – “We stand ready to pivot because change is the one constant. We embrace the change, think on our feet, adapt and seize opportunities.” — Tiffany Rodriguez, 2 years with OWC

Leading with a Servant’s Heart – “It means listening and encouraging, not dictating and micromanaging. Our CEO wants to know what we think, all the time. She asks that we do the same with clients and media. We ask ourselves how we can better serve our clients, each other, and, of course, the media.” — Paulo Acuna, 7 years with OWC

One Team – “Many companies list teamwork as one of their core values, but I have never felt or lived it as I have at OWC. Everyone, starting with Tracy, is eager and happy to step in and help when they are needed without hesitation. It’s impressive watching this team strategize and work together, regardless of your background.” — Phyllis Wade, 8 years with OWC

Tonight, we all head out to Lulu’s, Alice Waters’ restaurant in the newly renovated Hammer Museum across the street from our Westwood office, to raise a glass to the future, yours and ours.
