Four Digital Solutions That Can Alleviate Issues In Healthcare

Jesse Corn, CPO Zivian Health, is a digital health executive and health tech founder with over 14 years of experience in digital solutions.

It has been widely reported how the pandemic accelerated stress and workloads on healthcare workers and organizations. While medical professionals have shown incredible resilience, they are not invincible. Staffing shortages, inaccessibility to proper care and employee burnout are real, undermining the core of patient care.

In a recent survey, nearly one-third of nurses reported that they plan to leave their current direct patient care jobs in the next 12 months due to burnout, with most leaving the industry altogether. The U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics highlights the staffing shortage crisis by pointing to the 1.8 million job openings in healthcare annually, which has grown almost 40% and is much faster than the average for all other occupations. On top of that, nearly two-thirds of the primary care health professional shortage areas in the United States are in rural communities.

Prepare for Media Interviews as a CEO | eNews from OWC

It’s natural for a CEO to be wary about media interviews—and it’s also unnecessary and counterproductive. Business leaders know more about their sector than any reporter does and should welcome the chance to show it. Strong answers build trust, show leadership and demonstrate expertise.

Here’s how to prepare for that next media interview:

Anticipate The Questions – “Why did your founder leave?,” “How do you compare to a competitor?,” and “Aren’t you late to the market?” can appear formidable, but they open the door to your key messaging. A question on why financial projections were missed can turn into a strong message about investment in R&D with a glimpse at the new technology that will change the industry.

Be Up To Speed – For the appointed day, review your successes and compare to competitors. Last-minute prep should include knowing the reporter and the news outlet so you know who you’re talking to and what they need to do their job. Confidence is 20 minutes on Google to sweep the nerves away.

Be Bold and Take a Stand – Reporters want a business executive with a strong point of view. Being a good source means not only conveying insights and thoughtful data but also likability, charisma, high energy and an intelligent, educated opinion. It’s the difference between a one-and-done guest and a recurring commentator.

Get Media Training – OWC has helped hundreds of executives find their voice and take control of interviews. But our media training is a rigorous boot camp, and CEOs can also train themselves on Zoom do’s and don’ts, ATM (Answer, Transition, Message), and can organize mock interviews with colleagues that, with practice, turn confrontation into calm confidence. Nobody is born camera-ready, but we’re all born capable of readying ourselves. Here’s an abridged OWC media training syllabus.

U.S. News & World Report spotlights Alen

U.S. News & World Report released their list of “Best Air Purifiers for Mold of 2023” and included the Alen 45i as “Best for Versatility.” Based in Austin, Alen delivers trusted and top-rated True HEPA air purification products to over one million customers nationwide. Read more here.

Alen was included in U.S. News & World Report for Best Air Purifiers for Mold of 2023

If you have mold in your home (and many people do, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), U.S. News & World Report compiled a list of the best air purifiers to tackle this problem. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says that Americans spend 90% of their time indoors, and the concentrations of some pollutants can be anywhere from two to five times higher compared to outdoors.

Best for Versatility: Alen BreatheSmart 45i Air Purifier

While all of the filters for the Alen BreatheSmart 45i Air Purifier are medical-grade H13 HEPA air filters that capture 99.9% of harmful particles, you can choose from four different options: Pure (medical-grade H13 HEPA filter), Fresh (medical-grade H13 HEPA filter with carbon), Odor (medical-grade H13 HEPA filter with odor neutralizer), and VOC/Smoke (medical-grade H13 HEPA filter with extra carbon). Note that VOC stands for volatile organic compounds, which are gases emitted into the air from sources like paint, carpeting, aerosol sprays, and new mattresses.

Another feature that sets this air purifier apart is the variety of front panel colors to choose from, including brushed stainless, white, graphite, espresso, oak, and weathered gray. You can choose the panel color that comes with the air purifier initially, and the others can be purchased separately. These easily pop on and off, so you can swap out the panels whenever you want to change the air purifier’s look. The purifier also has a handle to make it easier to carry, though it is rather heavy.

On the controls on the top of the air purifier, the display shows one of five LED colors to indicate the air quality ranging from very good to very bad using blue, green, orange, red, and purple. There’s also an ionizer setting, and this model, according to Alen, is an ozone-safe ionizer that helps to remove even more airborne particles. However, if you don’t want to use it, you can turn this feature off with the press of a button. The air purifier also has four fan speeds, in addition to an Auto mode. The machine can be monitored on your smartphone via the Alen Air app, which allows you to control the device and get air quality updates.

The pre-filter should be vacuumed at least once a month, while the filter pack lasts for nine to 12 months before it needs to be replaced.
