Unleash the Revenue-Boosting Power of Public Relations | eNews from OWC

Is public relations really a revenue engine? You bet it is. Trust and brand reputation are as vital to the bottom line as the quality of the products or services offered. Every sector must earn its keep, and successful PR can do that with spectacular results.

Our client was in the call center business. Big company, centers all over the world. But the verdict from the media was “boring and complicated.” Even the founders had come to doubt they deserved feature treatment. But they did–because we discovered their employees actually liked their jobs. They had perks, bonuses and a better work environment than competitors. The young founders, both under 30, took for granted the significant innovations they made to the culture of their industry.

We pitched that as the story–not thousands of workers online. The New York Times recognized our client as part of a trend, and we worked to help them. It ran as a feature on Page 3 of the Business Section. The world’s largest social media site saw the story and became its largest client. Fast forward five years, and a private equity company invested and took the company public.

Public relations is the least expensive and most effective way to create value for a brand.

Here’s how:

Third-Party Validation – What the media says about you is more important than what you say about yourself. Being quoted in an article, winning an award or speaking on a panel is independent validation that enhances credibility. It’s a trust signal to potential customers and demonstrates that authoritative voices recognize and respect a company.

Customers as Brand Ambassadors – What do we look for when shopping online? Positive customer reviews because there’s no better promoter than a satisfied customer. PR tells customer success stories that provide authentic proof of success and product impact. News of happy customers means new customers.

Media Coverage Means Money – A well-crafted PR strategy places a business in the spotlight and earns media coverage. Awareness is interest, and interest translates to sales.

Engage the Social Media Economy – The role of social media in PR is to create and promote content that resonates with an audience. The viral potential of social media means exponential exposure at a fraction of the cost of traditional marketing efforts. Brands such as Wendy’s catapult themselves into the spotlight with relevant content for its 3.8 million followers on X.

Credibility – Customers know advertising is paid for. PR, however, is earned. A strategic PR campaign yields long-lasting brand recognition and loyalty that would take tens of millions in advertising dollars.

Yes, we’re all about the bottom line. Deploy PR not just to communicate, but to grow.

OWC Secured a feature in FirstWord HealthTech for PreventScripts

PreventScripts CEO Brandi Harless was featured in UK-based FirstWord HealthTech and spoke about how technology could power the shift toward preventive health.

FirstWord recorded a dozen successful funding rounds this year by preventive care-focused healthtech start-ups, and one of these is PreventScripts. The company’s CEO, Brandi Harless, whose background is in public health, gives insights on how she has seen this space evolving and where technology has helped – and even hindered – the roll-out of digital preventive health tools.

Summary of the interview*:

  • The healthcare system is in a transitional phase towards preventive care, with payment trends in the US highlighting positive signs of change. However, challenges persist in the adoption of other preventive measures.
  • There is increasing interest among clinicians in adopting the digital tools that can enable them to deliver a prevention-first care plan, but the current healthcare infrastructure can be a barrier hindering seamless preventive care delivery.
  • While the science for delivering preventive care is well-established, the challenge lies in streamlining workflows to make implementation seamless.
  • There are many opportunities for AI/ML, including generative AI, to personalise preventive care tools.
  • Beyond traditional primary care, preventive care can also be deployed through employer-sponsored health programs, extending the reach to a broader population.

OWC Secured Coverage for Zivian Health in Becker’s Hospital Review

The hotly contested issue of whether advanced practice nurses with doctoral-level education should get to use the title “Dr.” when practicing has drawn advocacy on both sides of the issue and even lawsuits.

But inside hospital walls, the shifting landscape of the profession is seen by some as beneficial to reshaping workplace dynamics, and the topic of debated titles falls by the wayside.

“When we think about the traditional hierarchy of healthcare where the physician is at the top and everyone else is underneath a physician, I think when the nurse practitioner role is a member of the healthcare leadership team, it has helped create more comfort with the bedside nurses,” Ceonne Houston-Raasikh, DNP, MSN, RN, chief nursing officer at the Keck Hospital of USC told Becker’s. “But I think the greatest impact on changing that hierarchy has been the way we train our physicians. Today, our physicians are trained to work as a member of a healthcare team. They’re coming out of medical school with the understanding that it’s not all about the physician, that you need every member of the healthcare team fully participating to improve outcomes for our patients.”

In other instances, the title discussion does come up during work, but more often due to patient education. Katie Anderson, APRN, FNP, MSN, RN, a provider with Elite Healthcare in Cross Road, Texas, that helped establish the family care clinic with Zivian Health, said she often corrects patients about her title.

2. Digital-First Thinking: Creation and distribution of content must be quick and responsive to digital appetites of audiences.

3. Playing with AI: Artificial intelligence (AI) is here but not writing stories at Los Angeles Times yet.

Favorite quote: “Guided by innovation, we’re dedicated to pioneering high-quality digital journalism that meets the moment and shapes the future.”

OWC Secured Coverage for Abiomed in Local 4 Detroit

A heart recovery reunion brought together top cardiologists in Metro Detroit and the patients they’ve served.

The event was Thursday (Nov. 2) evening in Grosse Pointe Shores, where a handful of patients reunited with their patients who were once critically ill.

“All of the patients that you see here are patients who have survived major catastrophic events that likely they would not have survived without these technologies,” said Dr. Amir Kaki.

The Impella, a small heart pump, was one of the technologies highlighted at the event.

Many of the patients benefited from minimally invasive life-saving technologies and procedures as they were too ill to undergo open heart surgery.

The reunion allowed patients and their families to celebrate the doctors and healthcare teams.
